Fanatical church to picket funeral of decapitated boy citing Canada's morally corrupt
Just when I think people can’t get any worse …
I was scanning the news Thursday evening when I read something that set my blood to boiling.
Only a week after 22-year-old Tim McLean was brutally decapitated on a bus in Manitoba, I read how a fanatical church infamous for shouting slogans like “Thank God for Dead Soldiers” and “America is Doomed” at the funerals of American servicemen was planning to do exactly that at McLean’s funeral.
Why?
Well, seems the members of the Westboro Baptist Church from deep in the American South think God chose to have McLean brutally murdered as an example to show the world how morally corupt Canada is with it’s policies allowing abortion and homosexuality.
Okay.
That’s the thing about freedom of speech. Even the crazies get to exercise it.
But why do they want to protest at the murdered man’s funeral?
Well, they must get questions like that a lot cause they have an answer for it in the Frequently Asked Questions section of their Website www.godhatesfags.com.
“Why do you picket funerals?
“To warn the people who are still living that unless they repent, they will likewise perish. When people go to funerals, they have thoughts of mortality, heaven, hell, eternity, etc., on their minds. It's the perfect time to warn them of things to come. Is it mean, hateful, uncompassionate, etc.? I'm sure it is, according to your standards. However, according to my standards, it would be infinitely more mean, hateful, uncompassionate, etc., to keep my mouth shut and not warn you that you, too, will soon have to face God.”
What can you say to that?
Well, thanks to freedom of speech I can say this.
The harm these malicious creatures have done to hundreds of mourners, hundreds of victims of tragedy is beyond measure. They hate their country and they hate ours, but protected by the fundamental right to express themselves freely, they’ve been doing their best to destroy the United States and now they’re taking a stab at Canada. It stinks, but nobody can do a gosh-darned thing about it.
Or can they?
Seems some people around Canada heard these nuts were heading to the poor murdered lad’s funeral to raise hell and they started making some calls. These calls got all the way to the Prime Minister’s office and to the Minister of Public Safety and these wackos were stopped at the border. Or at least some of them were.
"They won't let us in, but we have a group that will cross in another spot," the daughter of the church's founder told reporters.
Winnipeg MP Pat Martin told reporters his office was flooded with phone calls.
"These people [from Westboro] are almost as crazy as the murderer," Martin said, adding there is no redeeming virtue in the message they are bringing.
Nope. Nothing too virtuous about a bunch of grinning religious zealots standing outside of a funeral home holding signs that say "God Hates Fag Enablers" and screeching to a dead boy’s parents that he was beheaded because God hates Canada.
Nothing too virtuous about that at all.
